I have a 2012 C250, I'm trying to locate the transmission fluid gauge. That's where the dipstick goes incase I'm not using the right term. From the diy's I've read it's supposed to be on the passenger side but I can't find mine.
I don't have much experience with it other that what I've seen in a DIY. You can search for that or someone with experience may chime in. It seemed rather complicated from what I remember.
I did see somewhere that there was a dipstick you could buy and access a port located under the airbox. However, I don't know if that applies to the later 7g tronic plus.

Checking via the overflow method is becoming the standard unfortunately, but I find the standpipe arrangement on the newer 722.9 clever and easier. You don't make a mess of fluid overflowing to the side of the transmission and it's way easier to see when it goes from "overflow" to "drip".

That goes for the 722.6 or earlier, definitely not the 722.9.

Yes it is different. The only way to verify the level is to overfill it and let it overflow to a drip. All while the car is running after being put through the gears and up to temp. Yes, that is the official procedure.
If you don't mind getting under a running vehicle, checking it is no different than any modern Euro automatic coming out nowadays :

Thanks, I might give it a shot. Only question I have is, how do I fill in the fluid? Is there a fill hole?

There is, via the drain plug and a standpipe arrangement. Search for a DIY. There's tons of them now. Just have a good tool set ready because some of those DIYs are from slightly different applications (SLK, ML320, E-Class, S-Class, etc.)
