Insane Jerking and vibration between 2-3k rpm, The shop told me I just needed to do a transmission service and update the software, is this really going to fix the issue?

I'm always suspicious of shops suggesting a software fix, especially since whatever SW version in your car has worked for the past 6 years. The code didn't re-write itself and I doubt the adaptation cycle is THAT long.

If the issue has been there since new that's a different story. Transmission fluid service, maybe. How many miles on the fluid charge?

50k is not a lot of miles for the transmission to start misbehaving. I went 64k on my last fluid charge and it didn't feel any different than when it was first put in.

Do you have at least a basic OBD reader? Is it throwing any codes?
