iPhone 6 not recognized

just upgraded from an iPhone 5s to a 6s and the car is not recognizing the new phone. Has anyone experienced this or have a fix?

Thanks very much,
JP

While not a 6S, my iPhone 6+ works just fine for telephone use and music streaming from Pandora or my iTunes library. My only issue is the car will not recognize text messages, even when I receive one while connected.

There's 2 reasons...

#1...you aren't really getting a TXT, but instead an iMessage. If this is true it wont get passed on to the MB console, since the console will ONLY accept SMS messaging (so this limitation applies to WhatsApp as well).

#2...you have Bluetooth notification turned off. On the phone go to...
Settings>Bluetooth>MyDevices>(click on the "I" next to the paired MB Bluetooth)>enable Show Notifications.

This has happened to me as well. In this case, remove all associations from both phone and the MB console. Reboot the phone, and re-establish the pair. Make sure the iOS is up to date.

I've heard this from others, so you might well be right. Almost everyone I know (which is not many) also has an iPhone.

Notifications are 'on' and have been since I got the car last year. Thinking it's the above. Thanks for your tips!

I have an iphone 6. This is not true, I still get alerts on my console when receiving imessages. I would say about 99% of my text are from imessage.

#1 is not true, as long as you have #2 set properly you'll get iMessage messages show up the same as SMS. The notification comes from the Messages app and doesn't matter the message source, or at least in any of the W204 or W205's I've been in have always shown me everything I get except pictures and certain characters that don't display properly.

I had an issue after service once where my car would no longer recognize the iPhone after plugging it into the media/lightning connector. I took it back to the dealer and the "tech expert" fiddled with it for a while and finally after deleting all of the bluetooth settings and repairing with bluetooth would the car recognize the phone via media interface setting. It was bizarre.

I stand corrected with #1. I just tried it out a few days ago and was able to get imessage notifications as well. I believe it may have been issue #2 that I've personally experienced that broke my message notifications.

Are you guys plugging your iPhones in, or using Bluetooth? To date, I have never plugged my phone in, aside from a dedicated charger that uses the lighter socket. Maybe that's the issue...?
