Just got off the phone with Rocko at OE tuning!
I have to say that I'm quite pleased with his professionalism and demeanor. He took the time to answer each and every one of my questions thoroughly. It was a pleasant experience speaking with him.
OE says they are offering a 20% discount for their tune, and that brings it to $516 USD. The tune is originally $395, but with the 20% discount it is $316. The flash loader is still $200. Thus, the overall cost is $516. It seems this is the lowest they will go, even with the group buy.
Rocko explained the situation regarding the two members who had unpleasant experiences with their OE tunes and it has helped ease my concerns a little. I believe either he, or Jeremy will chime in on this further.
I think I am still willing to shell out for the tune.
Please let me know if you would like to stay on the group buy list, or opt out.

Plus we have 10 members for sure. Plus anyone can get a simple 10% off anything.

I brought up the fact that this was a 10+ person group buy and Rocko basically told me that they get a large influx of customers every time they put up a sale and that they already have a lot of business...doesn't really sound like they want our business that bad. Makes us sound like small fish compared to the "thousands" (literal quote) of customers they have.
Maybe we are "small fish" compared to all their customers, but I was hoping for $400 USD at the most. Especially since we are all buying in this together.

try calling Eurocharged i am pretty sure they will give you better price with better results + i have never seen a pleasant customer service as they do

I see a problem with this happening. People on this list range from C250, C300 to C350 with facelift and pre-facelift, yet that price given is referring to a pre-facelift C300. According to their site, They do not offer tunes for C250 before 2012 and C300 after 2011. I myself is very interested, however, given 1 price to range throughout the whole W204 platform excluding C63 is a bit odd. Given that a C250 (2012-) tune cost $795 and a C350 (2012-) cost $695.

tunes are engine configuration specific, so i do not agree with your assessment. maybe those engines are a volume seller and having a set price just makes things eaiser....but...i'm a bit saddened that the price differential is so spread out for the M156.
doesn't matter .... i'd only install an OE tune after doing my research. those guys know their stuff. people offer $395 dollar and $500 dollar tunes for the M156 engine, and i don't care.

I'm just on the fence with the OE tune purely because of the price. OE tunes, customer service and professionalism seemed great though.
We'll weigh our options and hopefully come to a decision together.

The C250 tune is shown on the OE web site. I am definately interested, but the C250 (2014) tune requires sending in your ECU or visiting their shop, so I'll need to plan this for a time when I'm traveling. I was also very impressed with OE Customer Service! Here

We can tune your vehicle locally in Huntington Beach while you wait, or the ecu can to be removed and sent in for modification. All ecus are modified and returned the same day as arrival. Overnight shipping rates are available.
Your tune will be saved in our database and is always 100% reversible. We have not ever had an issue with MB dealers and warranty.

I received the same response in late 2015, but when pressed if it for sure works on a SIM271 ECU (a 2014 C250 ECU) they responded that it's in development for that model.
Their page is still "in development", there are no dynographs, it would be helpful if they would confirm if a tune is really in the works or if one really has been finished. Such a tune would be literally the first on the market.

For those that are now on the fence or want to back out because of price after hearing what the cost would be I am just wondering how much off you thought a group buy would be? 20% off seems pretty fair, but that is just my opinion, of course. This isn't like buying a pair of jeans from Kohls. They aren't on the Fortune 500 list of the world's biggest companies. They still have to some make money too.
