Faulty Steering Lock- Repaired
I've been reading a few threads regarding ignition problems. Some have shared their tricks and quick fixes with manipulating their steering wheel while turning the ignition. Some of which worked for me. However, sooner or later, these tips and tricks will only go so far and will eventually not work. Your car may have a faulty steering wheel lock assembly. I learned that there is a batch of cars with these faulty steering locks installed. If you're still able to start your car, i recommend getting it checked out. Don't get stuck in the middle of the night like me. My car was towed to the nearest dealership, which is not my normal dealership.
On a good note: since i was at the dealership, I brought up a long laundry list of issues my car had: torn driver's seat, pealing drip rails, inop cd changer/aux, inop sat player, as well as some other issues. My PREVIOUS service advisor, who i had been loyal to, was charging me to diagnose and fix these issues since they were "out of warranty". He even denied having heard of such issues. (Even though its all over the MB forums) and accused me to modifying my car stereo- which i didn't.
The dealership my car was towed to fix ALL of my concerns as well as all recalls. I paid nothing out of pocket! They were very familiar with all of the issues i brought up. I didn't even ask for a loaner car. They just gave me one. I could not believe a dealership, that I was never a patron of, treated me with such VIP service.
I am stoked. Despite driving an awesome loaner car, driving my car felt like driving a new car off the lot.
I just wanted to share this story.
