Experience with Dealership for 60k service
Just curious if anyone has experience with MB delearship service pricing. Took my 2011 in for 60k service today. I called around to a few highly rated independent shops and the price at the dealership seemed competitive to what they were offering and they threw in a free loaner car. Come to find out that $550 fee doesn't actually cover the spark plugs or brake system flush. It was basically a glorified oil change. Lesson learned the hard way I guess. Does that seem fairly normal in your experience? Best independent shop quoted $536 for all services before tax. Should have went there.

Dealer almost never beats an indie - find a good indie and stick with them or learn to DIY - plugs are easy to do on this car - and brake flush is easy with motive power bleeder or
Similar . Filter changes are easy - and oil change with motive pump is also very easy. You could probably all of that for less than $100 parts and materials - plus about $150 investment in the tools -

Agreed with c300white, DIY is best IF you have time (which really isn't that much...), for oil changes and what not, no nohow is really required, there are plenty of people here to help.
Otherwise, if you don't want to do it yourself and you don't want to go to the stealership, then find an indie you TRUST... Some indie shops will use the wrong fluids and the like... These things are NOT universal.
