Timing chain and tensioners question

Timing chain and tensioners question

Hi guys!
I was talking to one guy that apparently has some experience in car service.
Since my car is at 95.000 km he tells me that it's time to replace timing chain and tensioners. Is this true? He says that replacing would cost 2000-3000 eur.
I had no problems with that car at all.
Are there any symptoms that the engine shows when chain is streched or something?
The car is 2010. C300 with M272 engine.

it's not needed. 95.000 KM / to miles 59.000 plus is nothing

*just to recap

Timing belt - needs replacing after ~100k miles

Timing chain - should never need replacing but if need be, ~180k miles at the least.

Rattles. Timing chain slapping the covers. So pay attention during startup, since the tensioner tightens the slack afterwards. May notice poor mileage/performance as well.

Well I do hear the "classic" startup rattle from time to time.
I've been reading about it a lot and large number of M272 cars have it.

My car is actually in the shop as we speak.
My 2013 C250 60k miles started with a "diesel car starting up" noise like this...
I had no engine lights nor was the car performing any different. So I said to myself, let's just take the ol' boy in...to be preventive, but after my local shop went in for a better look I got the devastating news. It was indeed the cam shaft adjusters (there's two by the way an intake and exhaust) long story short I'm bracing myself for a nice chunky bill in the neighborhood of around $3.5k. The worst part about it is I could have done the work myself, but work and life in general, just won't allow for that kind of time. So frustrating!!
If it helps any, I've come to the conclusion that if we want to own pretty things, we'll have to spend a pretty penny now and then... but I'm definitely looking into an extended warranty provider. Hope this helps.

Yep the guy's right - make sure you change the timing chain and tensioner. And at the same time he'll change the headlight fluid too.
