Cabin air filter
Hi all,
I'm new to the mercedes world. I want to replace my cabin air filter and intake air filter. For intake I was thinking k&n is probably my best bet but I'm having a hard time deciding on the cabin air filter.
Im not a big fan of the crayon or weird chemically smell that I get from Mercedes. Is that due to the carbon air filter that mercedes uses? Is there another type of filter that doesn't have any smell to it?
Sorry if this is a weird question.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you,
Paul

Have a look at one of these. Personally haven't used one, not sure on price, but seems to be a more "premium" type of filter than the standard Mann CUK 29 005
edit: I just realized I'll be replacing my cabin filter at the end of summer so I went ahead and pulled the trigger on one for 32.99 USD on amazon.com. If you want to wait, I can let you know how it is. Shipping is 9-15 days, though.

Many people on here have said they got a CEL after k&n filters due to the filter being too oily which messes with the MAF sensor. stick with OEM if possible.

Thank you for the heads up. Ive used k&n in most of my cars including all of my BMW and never really had that issue but maybe the benz maf is a little more sensitive.

He's not changing his intake filter by the sounds of it!

The crayon smell you're describing is from the sound-deadening material, same as your Bimmer. I personally like it. Reminds me I'm not driving a Toyota Toaster.

I've always liked that signature Mercedes smell.
Then again the new c300's have specific sents you can buy with like, built in air fresheners the car comes with.

OK. No k&n filter for the intake. I'm sure it doesn't make a huge difference anyways over the stock due to the ram air intake on these cars.
I still don't like the smell of the interior lol.

I still have 2 myself. I can assure you oiled air filters are still a problem. The advice to stay away from them is not unfounded.

Update on the Mann FP 29 005
Got my filter in the mail the other day and installed it, definitely would say it's the best cabin filter you can get for the car.
There's a few parts of town where I live that are pretty stinky - to the point where I usually turn on air recirc - and neither the OE cabin filter or the aftermarket standard Mann CUK 29 005 would filter out the stink.
Driving all over town for a few days with this filter in and I can safely say nothing but clean, fresh air gets into the cabin. Highly recommended!

Funk, where did you get it? I can't find that listed on the interwebz from a Canadian seller.
No one here even stocks the regular ones so I bought the regular one off amazon for 1/2 what the dealer would charge.
