Error Codes and Questions
Engine light came on today, went to autozone, 3 codes
P0128 coolant thermostat - coolant temperature below thermostat regulating temperature (x2)
P2568 Direct ozone reduction catalyst temperature sensor circuit range/performance
Now, I just want to know
What I need to buy
How much does it cost
What is the problem
Any other helpful info, diy, etc.
Any help is appreciated, I gtg for now, will be using other car.

Someone said they changed battery, some just cleared codes, some replaced thermostat, etc. I have no idea what to do.
Funkwagen bro how do I clear codes? (or anyone else for that matter)

yes I read it already, thanks, but p0128 they say replacing the thermostat is not always the case.
and I've done a google search. (not on mobile so not on couch anyway?)

The thermostat is designed to fail open so the car doesn't overheat. When the car is up to operating temperature and the thermostat is functioning it will stay at 95 celsius but if the thermostat has failed it will likely stay at around 80 celsius (depending on ambient temperature).

Any info on the other code?

A cursory search seems to indicate that the P2568 could be related to the failed thermostat as they're both coolant temperature related codes. If it were me I would replace the thermostat, clear the codes, and see if the P2568 comes back before trying to chase it down.

Yes, I found the same; btw, earlier I tried to clear the codes but the engine light kept up so didn't work. Guess I'll have to fix it first.

Yeah I was just worried about the thermo.
I also have to drive every weekday on highway for ~40 min going and then coming.
Glad its an easy fix and something relatively common I guess.

It should be fine because it's open meaning coolant is constantly flowing through the engine; just keep an eye on your engine temperature.
My thermostat went a couple of years ago and I drove around fine for a week or two until I was able to get it fixed.

Luckily mine was replaced right before I bought my car a short while back. It is a pricey repair at the dealership for just a thermostat.

Sorry I took too long to answer, looks like it won't resolve the problem anyway. That being said, both codes look related to the thermostat - emissions won't be proper if the engine never reaches/doesn't stay within correct operating temperature because the thermostat has failed (and stuck open)

Update: Installed thermostat, about 1 hour job, not too bad.
Now to see if the light will go off soon, or if I'll have to clear the codes.

My 2013 C300 just gave me that P2568 code, I recently had the radiator flushed and since then the fan has been going constantly it seems (and loud)
was the Fan a sign that something was wrong or about to be?
in the mean time Ill have a new Thermostat Unit installed.
