Mercedes C 180 CDI 12 mod
What turbo does my mb have?

First of all, thanks in advance for any reply i get!

Okey so i have a 12 mod C 180 Cdi (120hp) that i was thinking of getting tuned up, but i was wondering if my model was made with a smaller turbo than the 220 mod that has 170hp? I'm not really that good with cars, so much of what i write might seem dumb, but i checked around and found out that the 180 and 220 of the same year (2012) uses the same engine. And i was thinking that if the engine, and turbo are the same, there should be no real issues to tuning my car from 120 to 170hp. If my 180 is fitted with a smaller/weaker turbo i figured i probably should stop thinking about tuning it, as i don't want any troubles with my turbo if i went through with it. So bottomline, is it the same turbo as the 170hp version, or a smaller/weaker turbo? Again thanks for any and all reply's and feel free too correct me!

(but that would probably take too much of your time, as i am sure there are many things i have written that are wrong :s )

Edit: not sure if it makes any difference, but it is a avant garde, i know they have upgraded breaks and such, but suspect engine is the same anyways

I am not familiar with Mercedes turbo setup, but generally speaking anytime you go up in size on a turbo you need the supporting mods to go with it such as larger injectors, higher flow fuel pump and a tune just for starters. If you put a larger turbo on without addressing these items you will indeed get more HP right up until you blown the engine from leaning it out. You can't force more air into the combustion chamber and not increase fuel. Just my .02
