Dash speaker Buzzing
Does anyone know how to access the front center speaker on a 1012 C250? Mine has started to fail (buzzing sound) and is quite annoying. I appreciate any help, thanks!
best of luck
1. Simply pry the left hand corner (closest to you) with a plastic body clip removal tool. Gently move the tool across the panel until all four metal retaining clips pop off.
2. There is an electrical connector that is squeezed to remove (releasing small tab). Grab the panel with both hands and gently, but firmly, pull it toward you to release the plastic tabs from the dash near the windshield.
3. The speaker is secured by two plastic tabs built into the speaker frame. Simply grasp the speaker and pull straight up and disconnect the speaker wire connector.
This is a five minute job once you perform it once.
Also, please note which speaker to order. I purchased (#1728200602) which is for the Audio 20 system whereas I have the HK system which calls for (#1728200702) (who knew? The dealer certainly didn't). Both speakers have the same dimensions but I'm assuming there are dynamic audio differences. At least the buzzing is gone so I'll wait it out and replace with the proper speaker at some point, now that I know what I'm doing...
