Winter tires

In southern Ontario we get a good amount of snow and ice.
These are cheap but get fairly decent reviews.

My C250 is RWD but I think they should be ok.

What you guys think?

They look just like General Altimax Arctic. Those are higly rated and I used them (Generals) on my Lexus. Pretty good snow tires. They give up some on dry roads compared to my new Blizzaks. In the snow they feel very similar to the Blizzaks. I think you should be fine.

In my opinion I wouldn't cheap out on tires. They could mean losing control in bad conditions. This could mean injury to yourself and/or others, and/or death to yourself and/or others. Not necessarily saying that you're the bad driver, but in case some dumb poop is out there doing stupid things, at least you have the traction to avoid it if needed.

I would recommend Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2's as I've had them on a RWD E46 and traction was great, I have them on my C350 4Matic right now as well. Another recommendation is Bridgestone Blizzak WS80, I've tried these on both my cars and they have great traction as well. In my experience the WS80's have better traction than the Hakka's, but lifespan isn't as long, whereas the Hakka's have a longer lifespan, but still provides great traction. You won't lose traction with the Hakka's unless you're deliberately trying to slide.

Thanks for the suggestion. Place I bought my car ended up throwing in a set of blizzaks on steel wheels anyway. So I'm a happy camper.

Good choice.

Blizzaks/X-Ice3 >>>>> Hercules

They have a similar pattern to the General Arctic Altimax but the compound is quite different with worse performance in reviews.

You get what you pay for.

FWIW I have Michelin X-ice on 2 of my vehicles, and Arctic Altimax on my Jeep. They have similar snow/packed snow performance, but on ice the Michelin >>>>> Altimax.

On my c63 I run Goodyear Ultragrip Winter tires but will replace them with either the Nokian R2 or Bridgestone WS80/X-Ice 3 next season.

2012 C350 Edition 1
Same location, souther Ontario.
My car came with brand new staggered continental all season tires.
I want to put winter tires on the factory rims and then shop for something nicer in the summer.

Not sure what winter tires yet but any new winter tires are better choice than all seasons.
