Front brakes - diference for sports / non-sports package

Hi to everyone!

I have a w204 C220 cdi (204.208) 170cv 2008. A great car, no problems for now!

So, its time to change my front discs and brake pads. For the discs, no problem at all.

My problem is the front brake pads. For my search, there is some brake pads that are for cars with sports package, other brake pads that are for non sports package and them there are some brake pads that doesnt mention nothing about it!

All in the same vendors page! And all compatible to my car!

Thats getting me confusing!

My car has the following codes (from vin: WDD2042081F278198):
486 sports suspension
950 amg sports package.

From inspect sizes and images of diferent brake pads, they all look the same to me!!

I am looking for some ceramic brake pads..

A example site: http://www.autopecasonline24.pt/merc...=&from=3&to=81

Sorry its mainly on portuguese..

Please help me: are the brake pads the same? Are any differences between brake pads (those that are for sports package and non-sports package)?

Thanks!!

Since your car is AMG and included the sports package, I would opt for the sports package brake pads. Unless the AMG sports package includes different calipers, if the rotors are the same size, the pads should be about the same, maybe a different compound.

I think the calipers are the same, the rotors are same size (just ventilated and drilled), the pads are the same size. The compound looks the same.

But in some pads, its says that is for Cars with sports package and other pads says its for Cars without sports package..

Its very strange! Because if it is all the same, why they make that difference?!

Well, i managed to talk to a mercedes specialist about the brake pads for sports package vs brake pads for non sports package. To see whats is the difference between them.

So, what he said was that with sports package, the car is fitted with a drilled rotor, so the brake pads for sports package must be of a more soft compound to not wear the rotor.

In a non-sports package car, the rotors are not drilled, and so the brakes are of a more hard compound.

In fact, the brake pads for non-sports package and sports package are the same in size and thickness.
