Body Kit
Oh wow, its a body kit thread. Might be a shocker.
Now most of us know body kits to be ricey and stuff but before we go there hear me out and lets not jump to conclusions.
First thing is first, my bumper has a few scratches on the bottom. Not bad at all, but a decent excuse to get it fixed/replace.
This gives me a few options
1) Repair with touch up paint
2) Refinish bumper
3) Replace with new sport bumper
4) Replace with different style bumper
Now in reality for $10 I can fix my bumper but each of these options has an equivalent chance LOL.
So, for the 'body kit' I'd only be buying a bumper.
Now, in all this research I kind of have got my eye on the WALD body kit...
This would be my goal (bumper part ONLY)
https://mbworld.org/forums/attachmen...-kit-img_4.jpg
So I have a few questions...
1) For you souls that are still here on the forums, if ANYONE has a body kit or has done it before, how much will painting/priming cost for a bumper?
2) Is CarID reliable? The site has always looked legit but products suspicious...I don't know what to think. The body kit sold there doesn't go by the WALD name, and a few pictures are different :S
https://www.carid.com/2010-mercedes-...-43142967.html
Duraflex does seem reliable though, and it is a combo of materials which is good. Price point is not bad as well.
3) Is there any other place to purchase the kit? I don't think the dual fogs come with the CARID set, and even though its personal preference I kind of like them.
4) Any advice, thoughts, whether you think it looks awesome or looks like crap.

I think I agree that it might look too out of place if it is just the front bumper. Hard to say without actually seeing a car with just the bumper.
How much are you willing to spend on this? I see that they say it requires trimming in addition to sanding, priming/painting, so it doesn't sound like it will be just a matter of slapping it on after it gets painted. Could get a little pricey.
If it was me, I would just get the bumper painted.

Yea just front bumper. Fenders are sort of tempting but, not really wanting to overdo it.
As long as it turns out that fitment is good, I'll put in whatever $$ I need to get it done perfectly. And as long as it is quality. Don't want it to shatter in 2 days, cause seems like my options are fiberglass. Not spending $13,000 on a body kit.
Not really going to bother to upload pics of my bumper, but it really is not bad at all. In reality the touch up paint would make it as good as new, its not a big enough deal to bother to refinish. Would make it smoother though. Definitely won't replace the bumper with the same one LOL.
Also I will be getting to make my car more aggressive, come summer/spring. Already have bought a few things so it wouldn't really be out of place. Big fin diffusers in rear, quads, etc. will come later to balance it out.
I like it because its sort of a combo between the sport/amg/BS bumpers.
Here is a pic w/o fenders. If I do it though, it will be like the black and white style above, not just white like this one.

Idk the more I see it the more I like it...idk, its a big job. Hopefully if I decide to do it, it won't be a money pit.

it looks like its going to cost a lot but i do like the one that you last posted without the fenders done.
If they have that kit and your going to go thorough with it you might as well buy the AMG kit! find a hood and fenders online. that would really make it look crazy.
a used hood and fenders can be found for a couple grand. your going to have to get the kit painted anyways might as well go all out!

Only thing I like about that white Wald car is the white grill and how they made the turn signals on the mirrors smaller with some white stick-on vinyl.
I think the stock bumper looks better but that is my useless opinion.

So can't seem to find anywhere to buy original WALD, so gonna be with the replicas.
Duraflex is cheapest, ~160 for bumper. ViS Racing is ~460
That's a big gap, and both are fiberglass, probably the worst material in general.
They seem to be the only sellers that aren't direct from china.
I've heard crap from all of them, mostly duraflex. ViS has had some pretty good fitment.
I'm hoping if I do jump into this for labor and paint to cost ~<300 but honestly its such a risky game with body kits. They could shatter, not even fit in the first place, etc.
Hood maybe eventually, not yet tho. Fenders are cool as well, but with all this worrying, I would feel better if I even got as far as the bumper.
Does anyone know how much paint and priming would cost about?
Also these replicas don't come with the fogs, or the frame for the fogs...which is stupid. so idk we'll have to see.
Alfa you know any reputable body shops nearby? LOL.
Pretty sure I'll just touch the bumper up until I fully decide. It is winter anyways, so as mentioned I have a long while.

Whoa 3 posts instantly appeared!
Generic, link to bodykit? You have to keep me updated with the priming, painting, brand etc. Cause if I'm gonna do this, I'm gonna need help.
Also do you have pics of it as is right now?

Judging by your posts, I seem to be too late as you've already made up your mind.
I wouldn't get the Wald kit.
a. Looks ugly (my opinion)
b. Is this going to be a summer only car? That front bumper will crack with the cold outside as soon as you hit a bump or get hit by a rock, etc...
c. I wouldn't mind the Black Series front, but you would need to get the fenders widened and would have to balance the rear bumper/fenders and side skirts.
d. With paint & prep and body modifications (because that won't be a "plug and play"), you're getting pretty $$$. With this type of money, I would be tempted to do a front end OEM AMG conversion. Why? Everything will fit nearly perfect and if you ever decide to sell, you'll have an easier time because everything is OEM.
e. If you're DEAD set on getting this done, see Jeff @ http://customsunlimitedautobody.com/ He has done many body modifications to cars and will tell you straight up what it will cost and the work that needs to be done.
f. My opinion is just touch it up.

Not 100% made up yet, it is a lot of work. Might not do it in the end, but its something to think about.
Thanks for the response! will look into it. The shop is 10 minutes away from my house, sounds good!
And yes AMG is tempting because I know oem will fit perfect...we'll see. No rush. Just playin with ideas~

Will do. Still in transit to my destination.
I do not have a link to the front bumper, since it is the first mold by a sponsor on here; I contacted them for this mold. It is an aftermarket black-series front bumper that fits our Non-AMG W204s for prefacelift W204s.
This forum sponsor will mass produce and have this prefacelift black series bumper for sale to all w204 owners soon. I will see if I can get permission from this sponsor to release who it is.
I am not painting it myself, it is coming to my house unpainted and I do not think it is primed. I will go to a bodyshop for the installation, since I am also getting a C63 rear diffuser installed as well as quad exhaust tips welded on.
Here are some pictures the sponsor sent me:
I do not think I will be installing the side flares. I also will be getting the holes in the front for the front license plate patched; Florida law does not require a plate in the front.

I would either go for that black series bumper or the suvneer amg front bumper. I love the black series aggressive look, but I also like the subtle look of the suvneer with the LEDs.
The suvneer is designed for facelift though, so it won't be perfectly flush unless you do a LCI convert.

Ok, thanks. Haha you're definitely getting the mods done quicker than I am
Pricing will be a significant factor though.

The red w204 is the Prior Design Body Kit and not a Black series style kit. That mold looks pretty good though, I'd like more info on that. I think the sponsor was already mentioned in an above post so would like some confirmation on that too =]
