P0015

Hello everyone I'm getting code P0015 on my C300 2008 the scanner says B Camshaft position - timing over - retarded, I'm also getting P0012 A Camshaft position - timing over - retarded, also getting P0022 A Camshaft position - timing over - retarded, also getting P0025 B Camshaft position - timing over - retarded, also getting P0175 System too rich (Bank 2), also getting P0172 System too rich (Bank 1). I don't know what to do it's been a while like this and I have reset the codes the check engine light turns off and before I know it is back on, already replaced the 4 camshaft sensors with Bosh that are supposed to be OEM and same story, should I put the original ones back on? Someone knows what to do? At STAR they want to change me about $350 just to run the diagnosis and there the sensors are about 199 a pice.
Please HELP!

Bosch cam sensors are exact same as original as Bosch makes them for Mercedes.

Did you replace the cam magnets also?

Magnets

Thank you Colin G for taking the time! To be honest I don't know if I replaced the magnets, I believe the magnets are the cilíndrical part of the sensors that goes inside the camshaft, is that right? If not where should I look for the magnets?

That is the cam sensor you have pictured. The cam magnets are the larger round looking sensor mounted right near your cam sensors on the front of the motor.

There are 2 of each on each side of the motor.

I did a lot of research on this - most failures do not seem to be the sensor itself - rather the magnet - which as pointed out is the bigger cylindrical looking sensor right under the sensor. Hence check engine light is still on after replacing Bosch sensor.

How can the magnet fail fail you ask ? It is the oil seal that fails and let's oil into the electrical connector on the magnet - shorting it out - crappy design !

The easy way to see if you have this problem is to pull the connector at the magnet and see if you can see oil in there.

on driver bank - one magnet is easy to replace the other is kind of hidden behind ps reservoir - you can get wratching 1/4" wrench (I think) in there to remove the hardest to get to bolt - the other bolts use standard e-Torx socket like the sensor bolts - may need 1/4" drive with flex extension to easily remove - but still a lot easier than removing ps reservoir etc.

i did it - and car runs perfect now with no cel !
