Anyone called and successfully performed 2017010002 Recall (
I just noticed this Open Recall on my "myCARFAX" app few weeks ago (the recall#, according to this app, is 2017010002). I called two local MB dealers (SF Bay area) right away, and both of them told me that I have to wait for an "official" letter from MB before I can call in to schedule for an service appointment to perform this recall.
I google'd about this recall and found this:

and this:

Compare to Honda, which replaced my Takata airbag promptly, I have to say that I'm really disappointed with MB.

My BMW friends have had theirs replaced already--so did Acura. Some even got a loaner car for a month waiting for parts.
Members on this board say it's perfectly fine since there's no incident yet lol
But I agree with you, manufacturer that boasts about safety yet not taking things as serious as other manufacturers--especially their competition.
Mercedes is working on it, but it is time intensive. If they were killing people like Honda/Acura, I'm sure they'd be putting people in loaners.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG

Notice says "...Your vehicle is part of Priority Group 4, with replacement parts expected to be available by March 31, 2018. NHTSA recently granted an extension for Priority Group 4 vehicles to enable MBUSA to develop sufficient final remedy parts to complete your airbag inflator replacement".
I hope parts WILL be ready in three months.

I got mine airbag replaced by Honda fairly quickly (like within a month or so), so I'm not going to participate with this class action against Honda.
I'm really surprised that Mercedes was not included in this Takata Airbag Products Liability Litigation (does MB just have a really good legal team or what?), given that it has been almost a year now after we received the initial recall mail, and there is no ETA when my 2012 Mercedes C250's airbag can be replaced. What a shame with Mercedes...
BTW, I just checked again, and it looks like the earliest we can get that airbag replaced is December 2018 for California. WOW!

That is at least how BMW did it when the recall was performed on our 3 series at the time.
Hard to explain but BMW the controls are on the wheel spokes and they have a airbag pad centered so they just get a new middle part minus the steering wheel mounted controls, the W204 buttons are built into the airbag assembly on both sport and luxury.
