Changed Diff Oil
I changed the diff oil today as the car was nearing 100,000 km.
While the old oil was discoloured it was not black.
I used Fuchs Sintopoid FE SAE 75w-85. MB spec 235.7
1.1 litres did the job. You would reckon they would be able to design it for 1 litre thus halving the cost of the oil.
Another whinge, there is no magnet on the drain plug to catch all the fine wear material. All my previous Peugeot cars had magnets on the gearbox, ATMs, engine & power steering drain plugs.Just for a few cents MB could have done the job properly & prevented unnecessary wear & tear.
The price of 1 litre of oil from the dealer was A$120 ( 2 500ml bottles) therefore A$180 to do the job. A one litre bottle from Bursons (auto shop) was A$40 trade price ie A$80 to do the job. How about that for a price gouge !!.

I also noticed the lack of magnet on the drain screw.. and I let mine get to 192,xxxkm before changing it. Still wasn't burnt, slightly black, but running a magnet through the fluid didn't collect any metal shavings/particles. Glad to have changed it just for peace of mind
