Oil Burning Smell

Hello
I have 2008 - C350 4matic
Since about three weeks I smell some sort of Oil Burning Smell around front part of the car. This occurs even after a short drive of less than 2 kilometers. I checked up engine and surrounding and do not see any oil leakage. Also did not notice any abnormal high engine coolant temperature.
If anybody noticed similar problem, can you please help to solve the problem.
Will really appreciate your input.

A quick search will reveal several threads on this same topic.

Here is the most comprehensive one, IMO

Oil smell

Hello IGB
Thanks for the link, I checked it out and will check engine bay area after removing the air box once the temperature is bit comfortable. Currently car is used for very short travel (less than 2.5 km to and fro) each day so may be I can hold for couple weeks. Mean time I will watch oil consumption which will give some idea on oil burning.
I have been here but not too active and also did not know how to search old threads so I posted my problem.

Thank you so much for your help.

If this is related to the problems indicated in the thread I linked, I highly doubt you will notice much of a difference in oil level... It only takes a drop or 2 of oil on a hot exhaust, to get it smoking for a minute or two.... long enough for it to be noticeable.

This is especially true if the car is not being driven longer distances where prolonged pressure build up will force more oil out.

What you need to do is to use a mirror to allow you to view the back of the engine and at the locations of the cambox covers indicated by the yellow circles in the image below...

If you see any oil residue in and around the cam plugs/ covers, around the oil separator or the vacuum pump delete, then you would need to follow the procedures described in the other thread.
Good luck!
