2010 Mercedes C300
Need a duplicate key for 2010 Mercedes C300.
I accidentally threw one of my keys to my 2010 Mercedes C300 into my fireplace. It is totally destroyed. I contacted my dealership at Mercedes-Benz of Long Beach for a replacement quote, and they came back with a quote of $493.52. Outrageous! Does anybody have a place that offers more reasonable prices to obtain a duplicate key?

I don't think there's any other option than going through the dealership. When I lost my key a 6 years ago, I was quoted between $200-$300 for a key programmed to my car. At that price, I was like NOPE, and fortunately, I've been using the spare without losing it since then. I'd call around to other dealerships. $500 seems excessive.

With very few exceptions (independent Mercedes Benz authorized service centers), keys can only be ordered by dealers, they come in from MB HQs in Texas and are then coded by a dealer and/or authorized service center using the STAR system, meaning the car has to physicaly be there, so this might limit your search area. But before anything is ordered, you will be required to provide proof of ownership (title or registration papers).
This is not a common replacement item. So you'll have to call around to see which will charge you the least...

Delear is not always an option look in your area for people that makes car keys.
if they have the right tools they can make a key in less than 10 mins.
all they need to do Is read your eis info and your working key password and make you a key.

you need a mercedes dealer to do it. They have them made in Texas and sent to the dealer. I got mine for 320 at Laguna Niguel. Newport quoted me around 300.
