Code P034062 Repair
I'm dating a nice woman who owns a US-model 2012 C250 Sport with 84,000 miles.
The engine is the M271, a 4-cylinder 1.8L turbo.
The CEL is illuminated and the car started slowly and hesitated badly when accelerating. In the glovebox, I found an estimate from the dealer which stated:
From what I understand, if I pull the camshaft position sensors, I should be able to turn the engine into a certain position which will let me see some alignment marks through the openings, which should tell me if the camshafts are aligned properly. Is anyone familiar with this or other diagnostic procedures, beyond "the code says 34062, so replace a very expensive part"?
Also, if anyone knows where in the US I can rent some of the special service tools I will need for this work, I would appreciate that very much.
My sincere thanks in advance.

My 2012 C250 coupe has 67,000mi on it. I got the P0340 code and replaced both Camshaft Position Sensors with no luck. Sounds like it must be the camshaft adjuster

I hope we can figure this out. Bringing to dealership tomorrow morning, maybe they'll have an answer. Really upset that I don't have any warranty..

Service desk said "sounds like a chain tensioner."
Will respond with invoice/parts/costs/etc. later.
Quick search tells me it's going to be between $950 - $3,400 depending if there are extenuating repairs to the timing chain or adjuster.

No other comments. Trying to find parts to see if I can take it to my regular shop, not having much luck. Looks like there are at least two of them, and they cost between $500-900 each anyway...

Kind of why I assumed it was an older car issue at first but I guess still a problem. Mercedes obviously knows about this but kept using sub par components. Shame on them.
