My question is this; Does MB compensate, in some way, for the 1/4" difference in tire diameter from front to rear on W204 4MATIC?
The reason I ask is this, I am in the market for some new summer tires for my W204 and noticed that the 255/40R17 is a better match in overall diameter than the 245/40R17 stock size. So my thought was to run that size on the rear until a friend said "what if they have compensated for the 1/4"? what if you grenade your 4MATIC because of unintentionally consequences?"

So you are saying I should NOT have bought the 255/40R17 for the rear? I thought a little extra contact patch would be great and a closer match to overall diameter was a plus. Afterwards the paranoia set in.
