"new" C250, parking brake question

Hey guys, I got a 2014 C250 Sport last week, really loving it so far! 39,000 miles on it, in very good condition. AMG wheels, magnetite black. My first German car.

The only thing so far that I've noticed that I'm curious about, when using the parking brake (which I do every time I park out of habit), I have to pull the handle and hold it out briefly for the brake to actually disengage, and when it does release it feels like its a very weak release.

If you just pull the handle to release and quickly let it go it'll only release the brake about half the time, you really need to hold it that extra second or so to reliably release the brake.

Is that normal for these parking brake releases, or does it need some adjustment?

Thanks!

I dont know about having to hold it an extra second or two for it to release.. i dont have that problem...
But, releasing it is also very soft or "weak" on mine also.. i think it might just be a mercedes things because all other cars with a foot operated parking brake usually have a loud "thunk" when releasing the brake.

Yeah, that may be part of it, I may just be missing that "thunk".

Hey.. for releasing Parking Brakes as per the manual you simply press the the parking brake and pull the handle.. and it releases smoothly on mine.

In the beginning i would often forget to press the brake while releasing and only pull the handle which would work 50-50.. Every since i started doing it as per the manual haven't had any issues.. it release smoothly without the need to hold for any extra second.

Huh, I need to try that, haven't been pressing the brake when pulling the handle. Thank you!
