Lowest Mileage

Hey All.. Since there is thread for high mileage and repairs.. why not have a thread of Low Mileage listed along with unexpected repairs ( under or over warranty) and maintenance ( regular as well as extra )

I guess it might help owners to be prepared to expect the unexpected.

2013 P31 C63 Coupe
2013 C350 with 55,335 miles, purchased with 38,893 miles 2 years ago.
Had warranty work done for premature peeling of the steering wheel trim and e-brake not pulling all the way up after pulling the lever.
Only thing that was paid for out of pocket was maintenance. Cars been great to me.

48,000 km (2012 model)
All warranty covered:

New front struts and suspension components after it made a weird thunking noise driving over bumps
New side light bulb in the front bumper (burnt out early)
Replaced accelerator pedal (sensor?) <--Don't remember what this was called
Added clips for the parking cable for noise reduction
Updated comand maps (at my cost $)

Everything else was the usual stuff. (oil, filters etc)

Just a suggestion if I may - perhaps it'd be helpful to put the model year of your vehicle if it's not in your profile. Reason being: On low mileage cars, usually it's the age of the vehicle which causes parts to fail, as opposed to the miles

Ours is a Oct.2007 Sindelfingen built 220CDI, first registered in Jan 2008 & just has turned over 99,000 km.

I maintain it myself including during the warranty., only problem was a thermostat replacement at about 90,000 Km.

Original AGM Varta battery still in.

Here I am in a 2012 car thinking that I'm going to replace the battery before winter.

How's the weather where you live?

It can get as cold as -20C to as hot as 35'C (out of the sun). If your weather is fairly the same, then that's good to know for me as then I'll leave the car.

My car was parked for almost 3 years after buying it (long story, job changed after I bought the car and I lived on airplanes/hotels exclusively). So I have no idea when my battery is going to die on me b/c it sat in a garage.

You know what Sydney weather is like !! Mild winters & warm summers.

Maybe some do not know where Sydney is

The car has a run once or twice a week so the battery has an idyllic life.It is also located in the boot so not exposed to engine heat.

Well yes, of course I know where Sydney is. However, in your profile, you put in "1 hour North of Sydney". As I don't know what cities are 1 hour north of Sydney, it's sort of hard to figure out whether or not that changes your weather by quite a fair bit. For example, one hour North of Toronto means (perhaps) a rather significant change in weather as we are by the lake.

But yes, good to know. Given the weather provided in the link in your post, consider yourself a lucky guy! I'd love to have weather like that. That literally is the best weather for a car to live in

Please describe the thunking sound as I think I may have the same problem?

When driving over bumps, it sounds like a metallic 'tap tap tap tap tap'. (only over small-medium sized bumps - no real sounds can be heard over speed bumps)
