Red face Wheel Questions

Yea its another one of these threads...

so I think I've gotten everything figured out but I want to double check.

Front: 19x8.5/5x112, 40mm Offset
Rear: 19x9.5/5x112, 45mm Offset

These should work but want to double check...bolt pattern is right, offsets might be cutting it close but will they clear fine? I'm stock height, no plans on lowering.

What size tires can I put?
I'm looking to do 245/35?/19 front and 265/30?/19 rear. Is this normal sidewall height (notice the ??) I'd like to keep dimensions as similar as possible to OEM, currently running sport 17's. So bigger rim, smaller tire (yikes lmao) but same diameter. What would that be?

Thanks.

I keep notes on all the info I come across, here is what I have on wheels:

Diameter Range: 17" - 20"

Width Front: up to 8.5"
Width Rear: up to 9.5"

Center Bore: 66.6mm

Offset Range: +40 --- +50

Bolt Pattern: 5 x 112

If the wheels have a center bore larger than 66.6mm then you should use hub rings.

I always get confused which way it goes on this but I think it is- when the wheel has a higher offset you can use wheel spacers to lower the offset back to your range.

I know it says that 9.5" is the widest in the rear but...

Is anyone running 10" wheels?

Thanks! I have a similar chart in my head.

It says 6.32 inches backspacing. Is that the hub?

Yes you can run 10's, its very close.

Anyways I've searched the wheel thread for a while and can't find the same specs here [with an answer]

18x8 ET42
18x9.5 ET48
I know these will work, hub and bolt battern confirmed. BUT tires - I have no idea what to run.

I'd like to keep the diameter and stuff as similar to OEM but I'd like to run a tire wider than 245 in the rear.

Was thinking like 235F/265R (weird sizes? Seem more expensive). I know 245 is max I can put on 8" rim, but 245/275 seems popular as well. Does anyone know the best option? Least difference in speedo and wear on transfer case?

I run 19x8.5 +45 squared with 5mm spacers all around so they are technically 19x8.5 +40. I use 225/35/19 tires. I know for a fact much more on the front will rub. I rub sometimes on harsh bumps at full lock in the front or near full lock. If you roll your fenders you could run beefier tires.

Correct. For example. The 225 is the width, the 35 is the profile or height of the tire, and the 19 or 18 in your case is the wheel size. That's what the numbers on tires mean in order.

Ok...but for 18's, shouldn't it be 225/40/18 and lets say 255/35/18R? Because the 40/35 is the ratio and I believe these are oem numbers too. Additionally, the 225 & 255 is a 30mm gap, is that too much for a 4matic (if anyone knows)

It "shouldn't" be anything. You can run whatever you please ratio wise. It all depends on the ride quality and look you are going for. It's not like running a 35 or a 55 would damage the car (55 being extreme don't run a 55 on your car). What is the look you are going for? If you are lowered and want to run flush to fender 35 is better because you would get some stretch with a 225 and also being a shorter sidewall will help with the fenders. I have a slight stretch with 225/35 on an x8.5. If you want no stretch run a 235/40 on the x8.5.

I'm looking at an 8" rim in the front and 9.5" rim in the rear.

I know the general idea about stuff but I just want to keep speedo and transfer case on track.

I want to run a tire wider than 245 in the rear, and keep the diameter of the wheel setup as similar to oem as possible. I don't want to have to go through another transfer case anytime soon 😭😭

I ran the same size wheels all around so I can rotate them easily and have longer tire life. You could do that and run spacers if you want. Just a thought.

I am running 8" on the front and 9" on the rear.

Tyre size is 235/40/18 and 265/35/18. These tyre sizes help prevent gutter rash.

Hope this helps.

I am running:

Front - 19" x 8.5" ET45 225/35/19

Rear - 19" x 9.5" ET45 255/30/19

These sizes fit with no rubbing at all, but the rear tires are pretty stretched and I am going to switch to 265 when these ones wear out. If you're worried about rubbing, the brand of the tire makes a difference. Michelin and Falken tires have a more square sidewall as opposed to Continental or Sumitomo. Having a more round sidewall will not guarantee fitment but give you more peace of mind if you are ordering your tires without test fitting. However I can vouch that the new Conti ExtremeContact Sports will fit no problem if you're running 265 rear and 225 or 235 front.

245 may be too much for the front as I'm assuming your stock sizes are 225/45/17 and 255/40/17 if they're staggered. I'd go with 235 or 225 in the front.

So the consensus then seems that 235/40/18 and 265/35/18 should work.

Trying to figure out how much speedo will be off but it goes by individual tires not staggered lmao

I appreciate the help guys. I plan on running extremecontact dws06 ideally so I should be good then.

Your rears will rub. Check the wheel and tire thread. My set up...

Front: 18x8.5/5x112, 45mm Offset
Rear: 18x9.5/5x112, 45mm Offset

Paired with MPSS 235/40-18 & 265/35-18

I could have gone with a lesser tire with smaller shoulders, however, I can tell you from personal experience that the Michelin Pilot Super Sports will rub unless you have at least a 48mm offset for the rear.

I just got new tires and I went back to stock size 225/40-18 & 255/35-18 and to me, it looks/fits much better (keep in mind this is using MPSS).

Well the rears are +48 offset, I'm not lowered (you might not be as well), and I want to run continentals which are a tiny bit more forgiving, so I believe I should be fine then?

Oh, sorry. I didn't realize what you quoted. I changed my mind on the rims halfway through the thread, here are the new sizes:
18x8 ET42
18x9.5 ET48

And 2 people confirmed these sizes will work...

considering the platform is about 10 years old you would think this stuff would be kind of obvious by now lol. I read a guy was running 315's (wth), 10" rims, this that. Idk. I plan on staying stock height at least.
