2008 C300 sport Driver side front speaker short
Hey all.
I have done a rather lengthy diagnosis on my driver side front door.
I have checked a few different ideas. wiggling and moving the wires around a bit. my front driver side speaker however just will not work. heres what i have, and done. (i have A LOT of electronics experience with sound systems, but not for the benz)
ISSUE
- If im close to the speaker, i can very faintly hear it. so its got power ish
- Im getting intermittent sound or no sound at higher levels
- Indications seems like a loose connection somewhere.
ATTEMPTED REPAIR
- I removed the yellow door control module clip/plug in and hard connected it. (spliced wires together to make a solid connection over the use of the yellow plug connection) this was done to test and secure wire contact. this did very little. minor improvement.
- after, using the volume controller, the sound will erratically go in and out as i raise and lower vol.(loose connection)
- its not near or in the speaker.
- after said hard connect, moving the wire doesnt seem to affect it at all
Conclusion
- there may be a broken wire somewhere in the dash or door. but am unsure as to where or what may be the over all issue
Any suggestions or info on this issue will be appreciated

You didn't mention verifying that the speaker is functional. Do you have another speaker that you can temporarily connect and rule it out as the problem?

minor update: took the car for a drive. the speaker began to work. itll cut off occasionally. i think its a voltage issue getting to the speaker

Might be an intermittent connection in the speaker coil causing the sound to drop in and out. Door speakers, especially those on the driver's door, are subject to abuse from repeated door openings and closings.
