Average length of service time?

Have any of you guys had issues with exceedingly long service times at the dealerships? I've had my car in for 8 days already for a high pressure fuel pump.

I've racked up more than 3 months of shop time over the past two years.

Depends on few things:

1. Parts availability
2. How busy the service center is.

As long as you have a rental car that is not a hyundai I would not worry about it. I would take a very long drive with the rental if I where you and rack up the miles. Also you might ask MB corporate to extend your payment terms if the car is in the shop for a very long time as you are not enjoying the car that you are paying for.

I always get a C300 on loan. I had a CLA and GLA in the past but brought both of them back after a few days to get the C300. First world problems.

What has me worried this time is I'm just out of warranty and I'm waiting to see if they'll cover the work. But I've had a free loaner car for 8 days.

I'm thinking of trading my car in for something bigger like a BMW X5 or Mercedes ML or GLE. But the crazy services I've had are making me think twice about another Mercedes. Although a BMW may be just as bad, lol.

The 3 times I visited my local MB dealership they had good turn around time with servicing (1 day). One of those visits was for body work (replaced 2 scraped driver's side doors because someone turned too early when backing out) and that took 3 weeks but that's understandable. Only thing that took long was to get the next available appointment which was 2 weeks away from the time I called to schedule an appointment. Certain parts might be on back order or coming from Germany so that will be a factor and where the dealership is located.

Not anything but I don't know why people get so hung up on a rental car. IDC if they give me a Hyundai or some cheap econo box. As long as it has 4 wheels, heat and/or AC I'm good. With that being said for that 3 week wait they gave me a recently traded W212 E350 to drive around even after I told them I'm not picky about what I get.

Some service is quick on Mercedes but I have had a few things go 3-4 days in order to get parts and that is with Mercedes parts in the same metro area. I have owned BMWs. They were no different. Got loaner cars in either case whether car was in warranty or out of warranty.

You are probably a better person than me.

With a different car I had to rent a Yaris while it was getting repaired. It was fire engine red. I figured I'd sneak into work with it but somehow the entire office saw me pull in. Coworkers and friends kept cracking up about it.

But in truth it wasn't a bad car. It was fairly well optioned. I liked it better than the CLA and GLA.

Hyundais are actually nice-ish cars. The Sonatas are similar to a C-Class. The Mercedes dealer put me in one when I had to leave the county.

Recent B Service/Comp new MB wiper offer redemption got me a loaner (new CLA 4-door) with a 2.0 liter 4-cyl.

Dealer has 3 locations in/around our state capital.

Clean, honest, decent folks. Low personnel turnover.............

Ab-so-lutely no complaints.

As I'm looking to buy a newer C, the rate at which I keep reading these high pressure fuel pumps needing replacement has me set on staying away from Direct Injection engines (M276/8).

Thanks a lot everyone for your service experiences. I think I'm going to aim for a 2012 C300 Sport 4matic with the trusted M272 engine.

Godspeed!

Here is a funny twist. Someone filed an accident claim against me while my car was at the dealership. The car, plates and everything seem to match but luckily my car has an alibi.

The location where it happened was also 3 hours away. So the odometer reading along with the service records are helping out.
