NTG 4.5 Headunit removal

I'm trying to install an aftermarket backup camera and have everything done except the headhunt removal. I have the AC vents out and removed the top two torx screws. The videos show on other models pulling clips up to release the unit but I don't see any. Is there another screw or am I missing something?

Thanks,

Jim

I had the same problem. Screw back in the two Torx bolts you removed two or three turns then push down on the top of the two screws. The clips on both sides will slide down and you can pull the headunit straight out.

Thanks for the tip! I now have the head unit out and have discovered the Farka connector I purchased is incorrect.

I also discovered that my license plate light no longer is a light bulb that fits into the housing of the rear view camera. It appears to be a self contained LED unit. Guess I'll go shopping for a better option here and the correct Farka connector.

Any recommendations are appreciated! Thanks again!

I know what your are trying to do as I have been down the same path. I bought a camera that is part of one of the LED license plate lights and a Fakra cable for the rear of the NT4.5 unit (my cable was also the wrong one). In my case with the facelift C250 it didn't work. This head unit is looking for a digital rather than an analog input from the camera. You have to connect the camera to a device that will convert the signal from the camera and then feed this to the rear of the head unit. From my limited understanding I believe this converter makes the camera a CAN device which will integrate with the vehicle's network.

I ended up buying a rearview camera kit from one of the advertisers on this forum, Autowerkz, but I haven't yet had time to install it.

I hope this helps.

It does. It appears I am in exactly the same situation. So far I've learned a ton about my car and haven't even broken anything. Thanks for the confirmation of my situation and best wishes with your install!
