Hi, just picked up a 2013 c250 and can't tell if it has the IL upgrade. When I go into the settings the message reads intelligent lighting system inoperative, does this meen I don't have the upgrade?
I've never seen a C250 with ILS. Are the headlights HIDs?
I think the factory lights say Intelligent Lighting System on the headlight assemblies. If you have those the previous owner may have added them without doing a full upgrade to all the needed sensors and/or coding. Otherwise there would be no such message if you have the base headlights.
My 2013 C250 bought new in Nov 2012 came with factory installed ILS, Keyless Go, Staggered 18" AMG wheels, rear deck spoiler and a few small things to mention.
I think the ILS package includes the headlamp washer. My way of determining if the ILS is an aftermarket add on. Correct me if I'm wrong!

That isn't a headlight washer. That is where he front tow hook screws in to.
You should be able to tell by looking at the lights as you turn. They will ever so slightly bend around the curve for you. Also when you start your car the headlghts will self check themselves by going down and out. If your lights do not move when you start your car I say you don't have it.
No...that's a headlamp washer. That's why there's one on each side. The tow hook is below it towards the middle.
My bad I looked at it quick while running out the door. I have no clue why any manufacturer even installs those stupid things. They do nothing but make a mess.

You need to change your main battery , cheap insurance . before it desactivate your rain , light sensor , eco start & stop automatic lights inoperative . Make sure to buy a genuine Mercedes battery .

Nice! That is almost never found in a CPO/used car. I guess people hold on to them if they get those options.
The only time I've seen ILS on a W204 C-Class is with the C350s. But I rarely see them on the road.

True but mine do not have a on/off headlight switch. The headlight light turns on automatically and performs the self check only when it is dark or the car was started inside the garage.

huh...mess? Mine do not have a manual switch and I honestly don't know how to make it work, since new. Perhaps I overlooked in the manual. Well, I learned it just now and it does make sense, at least for me (thanks to this thread). If you use the windshield washer five times while your lights are on, the headlight washers will spray.

Thanks! Indeed, I was more interested in the color combo at that time and ignored the package. But slowly I learned what I got after joining this forum. So far, it has done a little over 14k miles
Sorry OP, not trying to hijack this thread. Just thought you could pick something with regards to your ILS issue. Good luck!
