Regarding Service Bulletin LI05.10-P-056435 For M276 Engines

Hello...

I was just browsing through few threads online and read about this... Regarding the Rattling noise during cold start of M276, 278 and 157 engines..

I had purchased my car pre owned and dont know if this issue was taken care of or not.

Can anyone who has gone through this via their dealer throw some information here. My car is still under warranty till Jan 2018.

Thanks in advance.

Get the MyCarFax app and register your car's VIN with it. You should have all service worked performed by dealerships. Although it still isn't a guarantee.

Unless that's a recall there would probably need to be some symptoms before they'd do the work.

It's a TSB for fixing the rattling/clanking upon complaint, call MB corporate and ask them to look up if the job was already done. Bet they can answer that. Carfax will not tell you-its general info. I want to get it fixed but last time got a run-around B.S answer that it's fine. I have the TSB on my phone, when I go in this week I'll put it in front of him and ask now what... Not only that but my engine is running a bit rough on startup and they didn't find anything.

Call the dealer and have them go through the car's service record to see if the work was done or not. If not, definitely have them take care of it under warranty before Jan 2018.

The dealer's I've been and even MB Corporate wouldn't do that. Corporate was a flat out no. I think I'd have had an easier time requesting an AMG 65 as a loaner.

If you phrase it like "has the car ever had ..." vs. "did the previous owner" to the SA they may divulge. For some reason they seem cagey about history.

Luckily the service records came up in CarFax for me. Although some of the info can be a bit generic.

This is just beyond absurd let alone if your car is CPO!

I though so as well. But I think I could get away with it by now. Everyone at the dealership knows me by name since I've had so much work done. I'm like Norm coming into Cheers.
