When replacing 1 front tire, is it necessary to replace all 4?
I drive a 2014 c350 4matic (staggered vehicle). I recently found that my front left tire has a slow leak that is not repairable. I took it to Costco tire center and I was advised that I will have to replace all 4 tires? Is this true? Can I not just replace the front 2 tires? They suggested that this can negatively impact transmission. Please advice.

Hello.. I recently had a very bad flat which was not repairable.. I took it to the MB dealership and asked them. They told me there was no need to change both or all 4.. The just installed a new tire and checked the alignment which was fine.. Dont know what experience others have had. Thanks

4 Matic you need to replace all tires. I had a situation where the I got lucky my tires where new one was destroyed so I had the option of buying one as it was still in the limits.
It sucks I know!

I thought it was only that you had to replace the tires on the same axle and not all four of them. And then only if their sizes were really different. Like you would not want to mount a new tire on the same axle where the other tire was almost totally worn. Mating a new tire with one that is only moderately worn would not cause issues.

- Mismatched tires are often a primary factor in drivetrain damage.
- To minimize variances, always match tires: same brand, size and type.
- The tread depth difference between front and rear tires should be no more than 3/32nds of an inch.
- If it is, you’ve got a problem with tire circumference difference. Get all four tires replaced.
