Cracked MBTex Seat Cover?
Apologies if this is a duplicate - I didn't search thoroughly to see if someone else posted similar info
My seat cracked on the seam as well as that side part that others have posted about. I had the SRS front left light on (which was the seat buckle - my indie mentioned no occupancy sensor in the drivers seat?) and figured I might as well experiment with the seat before having the light reset.
Anyway, I was searching for options - another seat cover, another cover from another model or even having it reupholstered. I just knew I didn't want any faux leather anymore...
I wound up buying a seat bottom (passenger side) from a c63 which is NOT MBtex. So despite the high price of $170, I thought it was a better investment.
The right bolster was a bit worn, but now thats on the inside
I was planning on just taking the foam and cover but turns out the whole seat bottom (after removing the SRS bracket and tucking that stuff in the frame) it bolted right in. Less than a 15 minute swap.Went back to the indie, had SRS reset and seems good.
So, I learned that c63 bottoms fit and left and right seat bottom frame, cushion and covers are the same...
Also, I had to replace my rear center console vents and coupe and sedan are the same. The seller adamantly said it was coupe only, but I bought it anyway and it was fine... either he was wrong about it coming from a coupe or they are the same.
BTW any bay area members with an SRS tool? I have an OBDII and was thinking of grabbing an SRS. I just moved here and all my buddies who had tools and stuff obviously are unavailable now... ha
