A service or B service?

I bought my 2014 C250 about a month ago with just over 35,000 miles. According to the service schedule it should be due a B service (either at the 4 year mark in April or at 40k) but my Assyst Plus says A service due in 8,000 miles (I have just over 36k on it now). i know it's a while away, but I would like to be prepared for whichever service is required, especially if I'm going to have to pay the dealer close to $1k for the B service.

My question is should I follow the Assyst Plus recommendation in the car and get the A service or do I follow the schedule and get the B service?

Thanks!

Service A & B alternates and is done every 10k miles. Odd numbers = A, Even = B and insert special services in between (such as transmission service etc). Example...

10k= A
20k= B
30k= A
40k= B
etc...

Most of the difference in A/B service is the engine and cabin air filters. Which are easy to DIY. I decided to do the cabin air filter each time as it doesn't quite make it 20,000 miles and it's inexpensive. I can't conceive of why dealerships charge so much for either A or B.

My A/B service seems to be out of sync for whatever reason. I just follow what is on the odometer.

If I remember correctly, my 2011 reminder will tell how many days are left before the next A or B service, regardless of how many miles are driven. For the first three years I drove it with very low mileage and always struggled with how much I wanted to pay for the dealer service.

Two times I did oil change only at the dealer instead of A. I changed cabin air filter myself. One time transmission fluid change at an independent mechanic I know very well.

The "A" and "B" service concept is one of the great marketing inventions of our time ... while your car is on the lift and the oil is draining out, the tech walks around and looks at a list of things to see if there's any other work they can sell you, all for a price far beyond a normal oil change.
