Different load index

Different load index
Can I use tires with a load index of 94 for the two front tires and 91 for the two rear ones? Car's a 2010 C300 4Matic. The tire sizes for the front and rear are different. The tires are Goodyear Eagle Sport All Season.

The load index is a rating of the tires ability to carry a certain load. The higher the number the more load it can carry. That shouldn't create any problems for you.

The load index will not matter, but you want the circumfrence of the tires to be pretty much the same for both the front and rear axels. How much different in size are they?

It is not recommended that you have different load indexes due to the way the tires behave in emergency situations. My guess as to why this is is because of different rebound rates due to different sidewall stiffness.

A tire with a load index of 91 is designed to carry a load of 1019 lbs whereas a tire with a load index of 94 is designed to carry a load of 1102 lbs. A difference of 83 lbs is not even half of what your average passenger weighs. I don't see it making much of a difference as far as handling. In fact, I assume with a larger footprint on the (presumably) larger rear tires, the weight is distributed over a larger surface area of the tire which should help compensate for the higher flexibility of the 91 load rated tires.
