Buy the MB 100k Mile Extended Warranty?
Hello everyone. I recently purchased a 2013 C250 and am considering purchasing a 100k mike extended warranty through Mercedes for $2500. The warranty covers everything but maintenance and has a $100 deductible. My car has 36k miles on it, I drive mostly city miles (10k or so per year), and I plan to keep the car for at least 5 more years.
Do you recommend buying the warranty? What can I expect to break over the next several years of ownership with this particular model? Thanks for your advice!

Mercedes does a maximum of 7 years or 100K Miles ELW and a 2013 would be ending in 2019 or 2020 depending on when the factory warranty started. So you may only be buying 1 or 2 years of coverage which isn’t a lot for $2500.
Search the forum for things to watch for, but generally speaking the facelift W204 you and I have are very reliable when maintained well. My 2014 W204 just hit 60K Miles (got her as a CPO w/ 9K miles in 2014) and has had no issues.

I had the same predicament, so heres what I did. I had the transmission oil changed, then let them sample the old oil in a 500ml holder, same for engine oil, samr for the coolant, same for steering fluid, same for brakefluid. I send all samples to an analizing company, not that expensive, they analised all, give me the thumbs up.
I my my case the extended gurantee was very expensive, and did not cover all either. I took the change and now 3 years later, I save an engine or gearbox worth. So if it breaks big, I still decide if I throw any money further on it.

E-mail Jeff Jackson <jjackson@TafelMotors.com> he is a Mercedes dealer that will sell you a Mercedes extended warranty for less than you dealer. I purchased one and it paid for it's self. I paid in 2016 $1968.38 (MSRP $2869.25) for two additional years/unlimited mileage. Drop Jeff an e-mail and ask for a quote.

Also only CPO Extended Warranties are capable of extending past 7 years from vehicle delivery date. CPO cars are offered 1 year/unlimited miles with the option to purchase 1 or 2 extra years based on CPO purchase date or new vehicle warranty end date whichever is later.
If you purchase the car “used” but not CPO you will only be offered the new vehicle extended warranty which maxes at 7 years from vehicle delivery date.
To me $2K for a year or so is a lot to drop... I would wait a bit and see if the car needs repairs...
