C220 cold start issue
Dear people of the forum,
I am in seek of your wisdom.
I have a 2008 C220, that is 2.2 diesel engine, OM646.
When my car has stayed overnight or longer it starts rough. For first 1-2 seconds the engine sounds rough and RPM's are lower than idling temp. During colder nights, the issue gets worse. Today morning it did not start on the first try (the car had not been started in 3 days). I am waiting for the glow plug light to turn off before I start (in case anyone might think that I am "that impatient car starter" who has one foot still outside while already starting the engine). No fault code has appeared on the dash and my low budget diagnostic tool does not show any stored errors. The thing is also that it does not happen every cold start, some mornings are better and some are worse.

First thing i’d Check is battery voltage ...if you leave overnight should be at least 12.3-12.6 in the morning. Low voltage will effect the starter and the glow plug heating. Even good voltage might still mean bad battery underload - get it load tested at auto store ...
