Adding Navigation to 2012 C300
Really excited about my new C300 --- this is my first ever
! I think I got a great deal on my car, but one thing is missing: the navigation system. I'm sure this may have been asked a few times before (and sorry if it has) --- but is it easy to add navigation to a 2012 C300? I noticed in the glove box there is a place to put a cartridge --- is there something I buy to put in there? Is it that easy?
Thank you!
Andie
Yes, your question has been asked many times. Probably the simplest thing would be to add the Beck Map Pilot. Do a search on here or the internet to learn about it. It sounds like your car is prewired for it. It is a module you could buy from the dealer and is plug and play. Not sure of the cost though. There are also other more costly options to add navigation as well. Like I mentioned, do a seacrh on here and you will quickly understand what is all involved. However, for what it is worth, I have navigation on my car and rarely use it because something like Google maps on my phone is so much simpler and easier to use than the factory navigation. Plus, that is constantly updated and accurate. The factory systems, not so much. Good luck!
I bought the module off of ebay (from dealer, new stock) for a lot less than my dealer was asking.
Updates are easy (after setting up an account) and map routing is very good, BUT:
The unit can't pronounce state names for crap!
I can't understand why Garmin is so easy to understand, but the map pilot struggles.
Example "route 95S" becomes R(are) T(tea) 95 S(ess).
Rhode Island , "RI" becomes "ree"
and I swear "Buffalo, NY" is being pronounced "Bukkalo".The wife and I have a good laugh every time we hear it.

I have been using Becker Map Pilot for the past 5 years and I have yet to observe what you've been experiencing. But then again, the car hadn't driven out of state where I live. Or perhaps, the EU language package and Firmware on my module makes the difference. My Becker module is EU version (bought by mistake) but I managed to load US map for free on top of EU Firmware. Becker Eng'r in Germany claimed this is not even possible. But hey, did I say it is working for me? I also bought a used US module with an outdated map as a spare.
@Andie, cheapest route is to buy a used module off of eBay for about 100 bucks and fork another $99.95 to update the map. Or buy a NIB for more $, you will have 60 days to upgrade the map for free once you registered via Content Manager. Regardless, latest Firmware remains free of charge! Just make sure you buy the US version! I would recommend for you to search "Becker Map Pilot" and take it from there. Good luck...
