What the heck is a Service F?

What is required when a service F is performed? Service cost is the only downside of Mercedes ownership 🤬

All cars need service, if you let the dealership do it all none are cheap in the end. Service F is another glorified oil change with visual inspections and fluid top up. It usually consists of oil change, air filter change, cabin air filter change, spark plug change if they want to toss that in and as said visual inspection. Anything else is just extra and is usually reflected in increased price such as possibly tranny fluid change if deemed needed etc.

Some may do a brake fluid change and power steering fluid change as well, but again it's reflected in price and if time and or mileage deems it needed.

you are, of course, correct. I’m used to doing it myself, but I have moved to a condo and paired down my stuff, including tools. It’s been since a can of oil cost $0.75 that I let anyone do routine maintenance for me. I can afford the car and the maintenance, no problem. Just a little unsettling to learn that an oil change and 3 paper filters and a set of wipers cost $700.

Thanks for taking the time to answer. I am great full.

It doesn't but dealers ultimately make more on service than they do on selling cars, that's the business model, it's also how they pay for the beautiful accommodations. They hate us DIY guys.

The Dealer

Ok, I read everything, but if I know nothing, how do I know the dealer actually checked all the points thoroughly-?

Example:When my car arrived new(7 month wait), the salesmen said I get it in a week, they must do initial full verification check from factory on it.
Result:The front tyres weared through the casing on the inner sides on no time, tyre in boot, they replaced bushes, but refused to pay for tyres.

Now, I value this dealer as the best I can go to today.Stil......(Must say they fired a lot of techs over a few years).
