W204 Retrofit Coding
I posted this on another MB forum and got next to no responses and I am at my wits end, so I would greatly appreciate someone with actual knowledge on this situation. This is an old topic and I've done searches and not really gotten anywhere.
Problem: I have no sound after the command retrofit installation. I need to know how to get the head unit coded.
My car: 2011 C300 (W204)
It had Audio 20
I installed the larger fold down 7” display, the blower motor and duct work as well as a Comand head unit. All works except sound. My understanding is because this donor head unit is looking for an external amplifier that is not present in my car and the head unit needs to be recoded.
I called to schedule a appointment with multiple MB dealers and they won’t touch the car because “they didn’t do the install.”
I took it to an independent European repair shop with a Chinese knockoff STAR diagnostics system and they told me that they couldn’t log into the car. I am seeing through posts here and other forums that the head unit coding would need to be done on the car from which it came from or a car with these options already installed?
Is there anyplace I can send the head unit out to and have them remove the Harmon Kardon/external amplifier code and add the internal amplifier code?
