Added oil and now Check engine light

Added oil and now Check engine light
I have a Mercedes see 300 sport for manic 2010 I got an oil change this summer and my dad added some oil to top it off yesterday and now today the check engine light is come on

could this Happen from using the wrong oil? I don't remember the exact oils it was but it was the same foil he puts in his 2006 BMW 330 X IAnd it is fully synthetic

It probably a coincidence. Make sure the oil cap is on tight and get a scan.

Also make sure you did not overfill by "topping it off".
To much oil is just as bad as not enough.
