2008 c200
C200 shock absorber

Hi, recently i hear a "tud" sound when i drive to uneven road. Is this from a broken shock absorber?

It could also be any joint coupled to the movement/control of the wheels, so you have to physically check it out.

Thanks for your reply. Btw the car is not lifted when i took the photo. Wondering why the left and right shock is different and can see the shafting

Hi
The photo shows what is left of the disintegrated bump stop which is fitted to the shock-absorber shaft, it is a rubber/foam material which when the car bottoms out cushions the travel to stop the shockasorber from bottoming out hard and making a noise.
Yes replace the Shock-absorber as you can see oil leaking out in the photo and make sure they come with new bump stops, one on each side of the car.

Thanks for this info. Sorry I forgot to mention that i'm washing the wheel well with pressure washer before i took the photo so maybe its still wet. Is it possible to change the cushions only? Does MB sell the cushions only? Thanks

Hi, Yes on most cars no problem just undo the nut on top of the shock and lower bolt to remove the shock and the damaged part pulls of the shaft.
You will have to check with your parts guy for availability.
