buzzing/vibration from direct injection at windshield/dash
when troubleshooting it, if i raise the hood of the car to feel around for vibration near the windshield on the driver's side, it is clear that the vibration/buzz that i am hearing is at the same frequency as the direct injection.
it seems that the vibration from the direct injection is being transferred into the passenger compartment and is audible at certain rpms. it is more apparent when the engine is under load but if i put the car in park and have someone bring up the rpms to 1500 i can replicate the buzz but can not for the life of me figure out where it is coming from. I've tried putting some padded foam around any obvious spots in the engine compartment behind the dash (where for example the windshield cowl comes into contact with the frame) but can not illiminate it.
the direct injection is loud when the hood is raised but certainly quieter than some other direct injection engines i have heard and is just has a subtle diesel-like tap/click (though it is a strong vibration) when you hold you hand on the rear part of the engine cover).
running 93 octane gas seems to have quieted down the direct injection a bit and the buzz is a quieter, but that may just be coincidence. perhaps fuel injector cleaner would help (despite my gut telling me that the evidence doesn't support their use!)?
any ideas or suggestions? Thanks
