help esl lock up ! wheels turned
I have the dreaded esl lock up on my 2008 c 300 Wheel is locked turned !!.I have the 4 bolts out for the steering column but the bolt at the bottom that on the shaft is clocked at the 10 o clocked position. looks almost impossible to get a socket on it.I know no other there way to get the esl out except removing the entire column . please any advise is welcome

There are only 4 bolts that hold the steering column in place. Once those bolts are out (and the wheel lock wire harness is disconnected), you should be able to drop the steering column down and out...

But looking past that part, I m also curious to know what you plan on doing once you get the column out? Let us assume you are able to get the steering wheel unlocked somehow... unless you replace the faulty ESL, the start cycle will not proceed past the part where it checks if ESL I operable and if so, it continues with other checks, if not, then it terminates.
