C300 3.5 Swap
My 2008 c300 is high mileage, almost 250km, still runs great but there's this 3.5 engine locally for sale at a very reasonable price with only 100k from a 2010 c350. Im debating if I should get it and just keep it in storage for when my 3.0 goes and hell if it doesn't I can sell it for profit later on. Regardless, back to the point.
I know literally everything on a 3.0 and 3.5 engine is the same so fitment is no the issue, the ECU is.
Will I be able to simply use my current ECU and make someone with a star tool code the 3.5 software in it ? Or is it the opposite, do I use the ECU from the 3.5 engine and just get the vin programmed to the existing vin? I know this isnt just a honda were the ecu are virtually the same and they just adapt as you run it threw a driving cycle, making swaps a plug in play regardless if you swap a bigger displacement engine.

Yeh Im not worried, Ive been changing the oil every 6000km since I have it ( 120 000km), now I'm almost at 250k and it runs just as good and quiet. But for the price of the 3.5 I can get its hard not too since I can just store it. I know everything physically and electrically is identical to my 3.0, everything is plug and play which would make it a very easy job. But I know the ECU is different.. I just want to know if I can program or vin the ECU to my car.

Mechanically it would be plug and play.
Guessing the ECU would need to be reprogrammed... which is possible but you need to find the right tech.
You could also go on car-part.com and get an ECU from a wrecked C350... that would probably be plug and play. There are so many w204s out there it would probably be reasonably priced.

Getting the ecu is not a problem, it will come with the engine. What im hoping its just drop in and all I need to do is change the vin on it to my vin via STAR tool.
