Safety door auto unlock ?

So last month when I got a flat, as I hit a huge pot hole that destroyed my brand new tire and bent my rim, the doors automatically unlocked ? I have auto door convenience feature on so the car locks itself as I drive off but sometime. This wasn't the first time I hit a really bad bump on the road and the doors unlock, is this some safety feature ? I do have the sport package and the suspension is quite stiff.

Anyone ? Im a little worried of an airbag popping on me next time I hit a big pot hole( yes I can drive..this is my daily and I drive over 15 000km a year and the roads are the worse in my city). I don't trust does Takata airbags even if I didn't receive a recall letter.

Lol same here, I hit a pothole a few months ago, and the doors unlocked. It did no damage to my tires, but according to my mechanic, it bent the rim just a little bit. I think its just the impact causing the locking mechanism to unlatch itself. This actually happened to me a few times with smaller potholes in the past. Shouldn't be anything to worry about.

Its normal, its a safety feature, once it detects a hard hit the door will auto unlock. You must have hit a major pothole to set the sensor off.

And the issue with the Takata air bags is not that they deply randomly, it is that they deploy with too much force because if the igniter material degrades. So, no reason to think that an air bag would deploy because of a pothole. There are sensors to detect when and what air bags would deploy when they sense a certain kind of collision.

Glad to hear, with my sport suspension the ride can be a little rough on certain roads but at least I know the car is looking out for me and wont get me stuck inside if im every in a an accident.

Saw this video, I remember reading an article about a Lamborghini hitting a pot hole and all the air bags deployed resulting in a total lost, because of a pot hole...
