C250 AKA lousy piece of sh/t
2 months I've owned this thing.
48K total miles
Check engine light goes off.
Diagnosis: Camshaft adjuster
$4,400 to fix
That's what I'm currently selling my 2005 C230 which has given me ZERO problems after 150K miles. Nice crap-manship Benzy.

These things happen and you have to be prepared for it, I replaced camshaft adjusters on newer toyota's multiple times even though people say they are the most reliable cars ever. Your car is low mileage and certainly doesn't need the whole timing system assembly like the dealer will probably change, all you need to change is the faulty part which is the camshaft adjuster, the part is around 600$ and the rest is labor. The logic of "while being in there" and replacing parts for nothing is truely a waste of money if your car only has 50k on it, 4400$ can get you a whole engine.

Hopefully when they were in there, they also installed a new timing chain.. sadly its all too common to see that issue on those engines.

If he paid 4400$ im sure they chaged everything they touched.. still way over priced, at 50k the rest of the timing chain system should be fine and parts would be fluids, adjuster and maybe a chain tensioner, I've see it done for around 1500-2000$ with labor at indy shops for these m271 engines.

Considering the W204 has consistently shown it's one of the more reliable cars out there in its class, well....your vehicle appears to be the outlier :p
