I had no idea how old it was but reminded me of an issue I had with a Corvette I owned. It had a winning noise coming from the 6-speed tranny. I think it was just a throwout bearing. The dealer told me I needed a new transmission and the cost was 5k. I said "GREAT, let's do it." They were surprised by my response then asked me if it was one of their cars (dealer warranty.) I said yes. They made me wait around for about 30 minuted and then told me they would order the tranny. When it came in I stood outside the garage door and watched for 4 hours to ensure the work was done. They offered to give me a loaner car and I refused and told them I',m staying.

I got a new tranny for free.

The cheeky mechanics at my dealership will disconnect both cables on my dash cam, even when it's off.

I always request to stay with my car during service and they always let me do it so I just walk around, watch the guy changing the oil and talk to him.

I am not that paranoid and I highly doubt a MB dealership would allow a customer to wander around the work area. Thats a good way to get sued if a customer gets injured. Cool story tho.

The only thing from my dash cam for international autos revealed is that they dropped the hood a *little too hard. But it was okay I guess. I don't think anyone who cares about their car a lot will ever feel good with it in someone else's hands.

Wow! Scum bags, they just drained and pumped new fluid in and went for a join ride.. That's crazy and its a dealership. If your going in for a transmission service, be sure to ask too see the old torque convert washer/pan bolt and filter, even then you cant trust them because they could easily just take it from whatever they have laying around but its better then nothing, can't really beat a dash cam. That's why I work on my own cars and only let people I know personally touch them.

I went twice to the dealership and I went in the back both times. First time was to install paddles and they didn't know what to do so I went in the back and started showing the mechanic on his work stations computer forum posts and what codes needed to be programmed.

Second time was for a airbag recall and rear tail light recall, I wanted to show him my custom ground for the rear taillights so he didn't screw anything up removing it, that was before it ever became a recall.. Maybe they just let me in the back because they realized I was more mechanically inclined then most of their own mechanics lol..

THIS! I echo it. I don't fix my car at the dealership, but I always stay with it when it's getting serviced or repaired regardless of how minor the job is.

We have an old saying here that goes like this: "Three things you should not lend or leave with someone else: your girl, your gun, and your car!"

I wrote what I did (4 times stayed with my car for 4 services over 4 consecutive years) and you highly doubt it... do you suggest I made this story for you to read it? I do not mean to be rude but are you out of your mind? Jesus... take your medicines.
