Stereo Problem
I just bought a used 2009 C350 w/ Harmon Kardon Comand system in it. The display is not working(it comes up but the screen is black) and the CD player won't load. With no screen, I can't set up my Bluetooth phone. Has anyone had the repaired? If so about how much was it? I talked with one Mercedes repair shop and they quoted me around $1300 just for the display unit. I would like to stay with the factory system but if it is to expensive I might have to see about aftermarket. I've searched here and googled about aftermarket stereo replacement but have not seen pics of any installed units. My local stereo dealer has not done any. If anyone near the Bay area here in California has any recommendations for a stereo shop, I would appreciate it.

About 8 years ago, there were some aftermarket headunits for the W204 from Eastern Europe, Russia and Asia. But perhaps since 2012 have found no reasonable substitutes for the original Audio20 system - much less the admirable imo HK Logic7/Comand system. Would not have purchased the W204 if this wasn't working perfectly as repair/replacement is costly, if this system could be repaired at all.
Suggest trying to locate the headunit and screen from a junkyard, and substitute first the screen to see if it was just this issue. If screen is still black, then the headunit. If one of the two components was working previously, they can be resold easily on eBay to recover some of the cost. There are YouTube videos about pulling to and connecting. Best of success.
