Power folding mirror issue - strangest issue IN THE WORLD.

Sorry for thread bait, but this is weird.

When side mirrors opened/closed they used to squeak, so brought it into the dealer and motors were replaced. Now, the driver's side mirror only opens 25% of the time, but closes itself 100% of the time as I lock/unlock/open/close the door. That said though, if I tell it to open/close by clicking the button inside, it almost works 100% of the time, so something is up only when the auto open-close function is leveraged.

Passenger side mirror works 100% of the time. I've tested this probably 100 times in the last hour. WTF?

Thoughts?

I agree. That sounds like it IS the strangest issue IN THE WORLD. Seeing as the situation is so unique, you might want to consider leaving it as is.

Sorry, I couldn't help myself.................

Maybe it has something to do with how the signal is relayed from the fob as opposed to from an actual swith i the car. I really have no idea.

Ah, here's your issue:

Jk. We're all trolls on here aren't we LOL.

Maybe try adjusting your mirror around a bit and maybe it'll tug a wire or something and the assembly will move correctly again...it would be the strangest fix but worth a shot.

Sadly this didn't work but thanks for your suggestion!

Idk if you're still under warranty but I probably would bug the dealer about it since they did it. Never know, it could be a software bug even.

Yup still under warranty, but just like that this problem went away today. After another 100 more attempts today (or so), this issue is now gone.

WTF. What a weird issue. Thankfully I took a video of this yesterday demonstrating the issue.

So the squeaking noise is due to faulty motors? I barely use mine but they have that squeak and it annoys me so much. Seems I'll need to replace them. Do you know if just the motors can be replaced or if one needs the entire assembly minus the glass and cover?

In my case, the squeaking noise repair done by the dealer was a replacement of the motors

I didn't know any W204s had folding power mirrors ... was it part of some upgrade package?

Yes

Here's a video of the issue. Going back to the dealer today

Skip to 24 seconds. If I give it a gentle push, it opens!
