Does it relate to engine speed or wheel speed? Does it happen when you're in park and revving the engine? If it happens in park, you can get a long screwdriver or length of hose, put one end up to your ear, and put the other end on things like the alternator, power steering pump, etc. to try to pinpoint the noise. Just be extremely careful of the belt and any electrical connections!

You can clearly hear the whine of a power steering pump... The additional (almost) grinding noise seems to increase and decrease in pitch and frequency along with the power steering pump.
Have you checked the power steering fluid, possibly adding more to see if that will help quiet it down a bit?
I too hope it's not expensive although the power steering pump on its own is not a cheap part.
Good luck, and let us know what it ends up being one you figure it out.
