Does it relate to engine speed or wheel speed? Does it happen when you're in park and revving the engine? If it happens in park, you can get a long screwdriver or length of hose, put one end up to your ear, and put the other end on things like the alternator, power steering pump, etc. to try to pinpoint the noise. Just be extremely careful of the belt and any electrical connections!

You can clearly hear the whine of a power steering pump... The additional (almost) grinding noise seems to increase and decrease in pitch and frequency along with the power steering pump.

Have you checked the power steering fluid, possibly adding more to see if that will help quiet it down a bit?

I too hope it's not expensive although the power steering pump on its own is not a cheap part.

Good luck, and let us know what it ends up being one you figure it out.

The whining noise is related to the engine speed and it is indeed the power steering fluid pump. been dealing with that for few weeks, part is in order. And the other noise which is more like a grinding as described by IGB is more wheel speed related and its not constandt it comes and goes . first i would only hear it slightly when turning then it got worse. any idea? grinding noise is not there when parked only when in motion.

thanks for the reply and trying to help

I had a similar "grinding" noise from the right front of my car .... Turned out to be a wheel bearing ... Hope this helps
