Can out of state car get ticket for illegal tint ?

I am considering getting tints on my car according to my states law but I had a question regarding this. . So when I travel to a different state with stricter tint laws , can the cops there ticket me for illegal tints?

Yes because whatever state you are in you have to obey their laws. But it will get thrown out after you fught it and plead your case to the judge.

I know in Canada this happens all the time. Ontario drivers end up in Quebec and get nailed with tint laws, id assume its the same there. Not their problem if whereever you came from allows it and they dont. Just my 2c.

that doesn't seem fair, I mean do they expect us to remove tints when passing through their state? They should make a exception for out of state cars if it is within legal limits of their home state. I guess it all comes down to $$ as the cops know that majority will just pay the fine rather then travel out of state to fight the ticket in court.

Usually it gets blown off.

Otherwise just get illegal tint and roll the windows down if you get pulled over 😎😎

Not necessarily. For example in MA the tint laws only apply to vehicles registered in MA. Most states are like this and cops have no grounds to enforce their state's tint laws on a vehicle from another state. What it comes down to is how easily someone can abide by the law in question. Removing and reinstalling tint is not reasonable whereas fastening a seatbelt is reasonable. General rule of thumb is that any laws that are tied to the VEHICLE (i.e., tint, lift, tread depth, light color, etc) are not enforceable when in another state whereas laws that are tied to the DRIVER (i.e., seatbelts, using turn signals, speeding, noise, etc) is enforceable when in another state.

If it only were that easy. When I bought my car it had 18% tint and I finally got pulled over after nearly after a month of driving. All my windows were down and the cop saw the rear window which is why he pulled me over. When he came up to my car he asked me to put my window up so he could measure the tint level. He was reasonable when I explained I recently bought the car and was planning on replacing the tint within the month so he let me off with a warning.
